Andres Escobar Saldarriaga death

His full name is Andres Escobar Saldarriaga. He was born on march 13, 1967. He died on July 2, 1994. He lived for 27 years. He was 6 ft tall and his position that he played was a defender. He was born in Medellin, Columbia.
At this time he was playing for the Columbian Soccer Team in the 1994 FIFA world cup. Their team got knocked out of the race for the cup in the first round against USA. The final score was 2-1. It was a tie until Escobar scored on his own net, he was so mad at himself. However Escobar scored his team's only goal. After the game he went back to Columbia. Then he called some of his friends and then went to a bar in the neighborhood. Then they went to a liquor store.After that they went to a night club. Late that night his friends went home and Escobar was all alone. When he was done he walked to the parking lot and got into his car. After that things got ugly! Two men and a women walked up to Escobar and yelled '' THANKS FOR THE OWN GOAL'' and they shot him 12 times in the chest. Escobar was sent to the hospital but was pronounced dead 45 minutes later. The police were not sure that the murder was connected to gambling loses to somebody who bet lots of money that Colombia would make it to the second round. Which they didn't. At Escobar's funeral 120,000 people came. In July the city of Medellin made a statue of him in his honour. Andres Escobar was a good defender that played for Columbia in the world cup in 1990 and 1994. His number was #2 and his nicname was the "Gentleman of Soccer". He became a professional soccer player at the age of 21 and his legend lives on to this day.
